The Bulls entertain Stockport in League Two action tomorrow looking for their first double of the season.
The 5-0 win at Edgeley Park signalled a Bulls revival and began doubts over Paul Simpson's reign, but it was the Bulls first win over their often higher-graded rivals after three straight losses. While Edgeley Park games have seen the Bulls win three times out of four since their League return, matches at Edgar Street have seen the Bulls blunted. They have not scored in the last five visits of the Hatters, losing all but one.
The Bulls will look to convert their fine away form into a first home League win after starting 2011 unbeaten. Three straight away wins at Aldershot, Lincoln, and Wycombe will boost confidence with the twin strikeforce of Mathieu Manset and Stuart Fleetwood averaging a goal a game each in 2011. With Nicky Featherstone now a permanent addition to the squad, the Bulls will look to seal a longer deal for Rob Purdie. The versatile Oldham man filled in at left back on Tuesday night, with Joe Heath struggling with a knock, for his first appearance in two weeks.
Stockport travel to Edgar Street under different management to that 5-0 demolition. With Simpson gone, the Stockport hierarchy have put Peter Ward in charge. The club stalwart is reported to have not got along with the former Shrews chief, prompting his departure, but his first game in charge saw another five goals conceded and his side let a two goal lead slip in midweek for a 3-3 draw. Over the last dozen games they've averaged three goals conceded each match to be the leakiest defence of the 92 clubs. Having lost the services of eight goal George Donnelly their current top scorer is Greg Tansey with five, though volatile winger Ishmael Demontagnac has two in two games on loan.
Hereford United vs Stockport County, Edgar Street, Saturday 15th January, 3.00pm.
