Stockport have signed four players on loan. Rochdale striker Anthony Elding arrives until the end of the season, while Blackpool's midfield pair Ishmael Demontagnac and Stephen Husband, and Newcastle defender Matthew Grieve arrive for a month. Stevenage have signed Carshalton striker Byron Harrison. The 23 year old scored 14 times for the Ryman League side this season.

Burton are fuming after Shrewsbury nipped in at the last minute and grabbed loan striker James Collins on a permanent 18 month deal. The Aston Villa teenager scored five times in 12 games since arriving at the Pirelli Stadium in mid-October. Former Bulls loanee Ade Akinbiyi has joined Newport until the end of the season. The 36 year old was released by Notts County in the summer after returning to England following a spell in the MLS.

Kidderminster have been docked five points and received a suspended £5,000 fine from the Conference for misleading them over their financial reporting rules. Barnet have released defender Grant Basey and midfielder Danny Hart by mutual consent. Caretaker boss Paul Fairclough said of Basey "It soon became apparent to me that Grant's heart was not really fully involved in the task we have on our hands."

Shrewsbury have announced they have reached agreement to sign winger Mark Wright on a permanent basis from Bristol Rovers. Crewe boss Dario Gradi says he turned down a swap deal involving departed Aldershot striker Marvin Morgan and the Railwaymen's misfit forward Calvin Zola. Southend have loaned defender Luke Prosser to Rushden for three months. The former Port Vale man has played 13 times for the Shrimpers this term.

Histon have been docked five points and handed a suspended fine of £5,000 for misleading the Conference over their financial reporting. The club have also been handed a transfer embargo after submitting an incorrect VAT return to the taxman, a matter that is now being investigated. The Cambridgeshire side drop to the bottom of the Conference, seven points short of safety, as a result of the points deduction.

Cambridge are reported to have been operating on a break-even budget of 3,200 attendances. They say they currently have a shortfall of £80,000 with estimates doubling that figure by the end of the season. They have had to return loanee Alex Stavrinou to Charlton as they cannot afford to keep him, but deny their situation is as bad as Kidderminster.

Kidderminster have an immediate need for £120,000 to avoid a CVA agreement or winding up proceedings. The local press reports that wages have been paid after their New Years Day game with Forest Green was staged, but the sum still needed to be topped up by the board. They have had to loan defender Ollie Thorne to Rushden to ease the wage bill, and accepted a bid in December for striker Chris McPhee from Crawley but the player rejected the move.
