In his comments to the press about his move to Crystal Palace, former Bulls man Lennie Lawrence has dismissed speculation that Charlton fans may not like him for it.
Charlton were lodging in the home of their fierce rivals when Lawrence was boss of the struggling (then) Division One side back in the 1980's. When asked about the reaction from Charlton fans, he responded: “I am a professional and not a fan.
“Of course I have a strong connection with Charlton but it was 20 years ago now. If some supporters aren’t happy about it then there is not really much I can do. I just hope they can see in time this is a professional decision I have made.”
Lawrence will get a chance to find out face to face what they think of him on January 27th, as he is due to be part of a Charlton Legends team that will take on a team of 'Addicks Anoraks' in a fund raising 1980's quiz night.
