£112,500 from FA Cup for Bulls

Hereford United have earned £112,500 from this seasons FA Cup and that's before travelling to Sheffield Wednesday where the gate alone, which is shared, could be worth around £50,000, perhaps more.

The club needs the cash as expenditure is well ahead of income since David Keyte and Tim Russon took over from Graham Turner.

However that expenditure includes settling the debt with the Richardsons and also getting the leases back from them.

Before last night's win at Wycombe, chairman Keyte spoke to BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"The finances from the FA Cup are always a bonus to any club of our size," said Keyte.

"To date we've banked £45,000 from the two rounds which is about two and a half weeks wages for us, the whole squad.

"Probably Wayne Rooney's daily rate.

"Crazy finances within football and we're in the working mens end of it, roll your sleeves up and try and keep going week to week. That's the world we are in."

Keyte was then asked, assuming Hereford won at Wycombe, what would this money be spent on.

"It would be nice to put it in the bank but I'm sure the manager will be tapping on the door - in fact we've already had a discussion of making use of the money we've banked to date.

"There is a cap in League Two - we are only allowed to use 60% of the income. So it probably only amounts to one players worth to date. £800 is the average wage."
