News Round Up

Oxford have denied weekend press reports saying one of their players was stabbed in a London nightclub. The club have confirmed that winger Alfie Potter was arrested over a stabbing in the nightclub, but was released without charge. Southend and Barnet are said to be chasing Ely City midfielder Adam Murray.

Port Vale's potential investor Mike Newton has named former Stoke striker Graham Shaw as the man to become the club's new Chief Executive if he takes over. The 43 year old is now a solicitor, having qualified after his football career. Accrington tried to switch Saturday's game with Aldershot due to the state of their pitch. They spent £70,000 over the summer to improve it but it was called 'a bog' and 'inadequate' after the match. They hope to rectify the issues before their next home match.

Wrexham's Supporters Trust have been offered the club for £1 - if they buy the stadium for £2million. The current owners have completed development of student flats on the site and want to offload the loss making side, but will charge the club considerable rent if it does not buy the ground off them as well. Crawley say they offered £200,000 for the Peterboro bound Lee Tomlin, while the Posh signed him for £180,000.

Aldershot have signed a new five year ground sponsorship deal with current backers EBB. Tranmere have denied receiving any bid from Rotherham for striker Ian Thomas-Moore, but have admitted the player has asked for a transfer.
