Mariners Win Card Appeal

Grimsby defender Olly Lancashire has won his appeal against his red card last Saturday and will be able to face the Bulls tomorrow.

The Southampton full back faced a four match ban for what was claimed to have been an elbow on Northampton striker Billy McKay, but video evidence cleared him.

The Mariners will also test the fitness of goalkeepers Nick Colgan and Leigh Overton this morning before making a decision on whether to get another loan keeper in. Colgan trained yesterday after a scan showed the groin injury he picked up last week was a strain rather than a tear. Also doubtful is striker Lee Peacock, with the veteran unlikely to feature with an achilles problem.

One player not making the trip is striker Nathan Jarman. The player revealed on a social networking site that he was training with the youth team, leading to speculation that the player will not play for the club again. The former Barnsley trainee was sent off in his last match, as a late sub at home to Macclesfield in February, and his potential departure appears to be welcomed by most Mariners fans.

Meanwhile striker Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro has told the Grimsby Telegraph the Mariners need to win their games before looking for Torquay and Cheltenham to slip up: "Of course, Grimsby need to win, but afterwards if Cheltenham win it will be more difficult for us. First we need to look at just Grimsby – when we finish, then we can look towards Cheltenham and Torquay because it depends on those two as well.

"Now there is everything – confidence, fight – when Grimsby play now it is with heart. I think we have a chance to win every game, and when I see the team play I can't imagine Grimsby going down.

"Of course, [Hereford] is an important game. I think Grimsby can win but now we need to trust and to believe in the team, to score, to attack and to win. I don't think I have been playing badly but now I am more decisive. If a player plays well and he is decisive he plays even better.

"I am enjoying wearing the Grimsby shirt but not if we go down, so I will fight for Grimsby to stay up."
