The result that should wake up those slumbering into League Two sleep thinking they're safe came at Grimsby where the Mariners recorded their first win in 27 games in beating Shrewsbury 3-0, closing the gap on Cheltenham to four points. The Robins lost 1-0 at home to Chesterfield to see their goal difference lead nearly halved to five goals. Darlington showed little signs of a recovery in losing 3-1 at home to Torquay, but again lost an early lead, with the Gulls staying nine points clear. Lincoln drew 1-1 at leaders Rochdale to earn a valuable point.
At the top the Spotland club are six points clear with a game in hand on Bournemouth, who closed the gap with a 1-0 win over Morecambe. Chesterfield's win puts them third, overtaking Bury who had a goalless draw with Dagenham. Notts County are fifth with a 3-0 win at Accrington, with Rotherham's 2-1 loss at home to Bradford moving them down to sixth. Shrewsbury hold on to the final play-off spot with Northampton three points behind after a 3-1 win at Port Vale. In the other game Burton beat Aldershot 2-0 to hamper the Shots' vague play-off hopes.
In the Conference Stevenage lead by two points after a 2-0 win over Crawley, but Oxford still hold a game in hand with their game against Chester today called off due to their opponent's gradual demise. Forest Green beat York 2-1, while Kidderminster earned a goalless draw at Eastbourne.
