Preview: Bulls vs Bradford

The Bulls entertain Bradford in a League Two match at Edgar Street on Saturday.

When Bradford won the reverse fixture back in October it was their first win over the Bulls since 1981. In the previous meetings two years previous the Bulls won both times, 4-2 and Edgar Street and 3-1 at Valley Parade with Trevor Benjamin and Theo Robinson scoring in both games. Overall, despite the Bantams' recent higher grading, the Bulls have the edge with seven wins to their five.

The Bulls will expect a larger crowd on a Saturday but, after four straight home losses, it may be largely due the substatially larger travelling support than Morecambe managed on Tuesday. Saturday gates have been higher than midweek generally, with the last two Saturday games bringing in more than 500 extra home supporters than their Tuesday equivalents. The one thing that will urge the lazier supporter to come to Edgar Street would be a signing. Graham Turner has continued the John Trewick mantra of wanting to sign a couple of players, but there remains little movement on the transfer front.

It's a different situation at Bradford, with new boss Peter Taylor making several squad changes since his arrival. Five players have arrived in his opening four weeks, including ex-Bull Robbie Threlfall, while three more have departed. Threlfall's six appearances for the Bantams is more than Steven O'Leary has managed. The injury prone ex-Bull has made just four appearances all season, but still impressed former boss Stuart McCall enough to earn a series of short contract extensions. With the departures of veterans Michael Boulding and Peter Thorne, bruising centre forward James Hanson will be at the head of the Bantams' attack with ten goals this season.

Hereford United vs Bradford City, Edgar Street, Saturday 20th March, 3.00pm.
