News Round Up

Bradford have released a fourth player inside a week with the departure of veteran midfielder Chris Brandon. The 33 year old had two years at the club, starting just 18 games due to injury, and has not featured since Peter Taylor arrived at the club. Lincoln have lost the services of loan forward Drewe Broughton after Rotherham recalled him due to their loss of form. Broughton wants to return to Sincil Bank in the summer when his Millers contract expires.

Chesterfield midfielder Derek Niven will miss six weeks with an ankle injury. He will miss the Bulls trip to Saltergate next weekend. The Spireites have also decided not to extend the loan of Carlisle striker Gary Madine. Ex-Bull Steve Guinan scored a hat-trick in the reserves in midweek and is now fit for Northampton's first team for the first time in nearly four months after a hernia problem.

Macclesfield won't be having Mansfield boss David Holdsworth as their new manager, according to Stags chairman Andy Perry. Holdsworth, and his Newport manager brother Dean, are both being touted as future League managers. Bury have signed Oldham striker Keigan Parker on loan for a month as cover for suspended forward Ryan Lowe, who got a three match ban for his red card at the weekend.

Exeter beat Bristol Rovers 1-0 last night to close the gap to safety to one point. They sit 21st in League One, one point behind Tranmere having played a game more. Burton expect to complete the protracted signing of ex-Chester man Shaun Kelly before the weekend. Dagenham have extended the contract of 40 year old keeper Tony Roberts for another year. He made his 450th appearance for the Daggers on Tuesday night.
