Kenny Lunt is due to meet chairman Graham Turner and manager John Trewick today to discuss his future at Edgar Street.
The meeting has come about because Lunt has played 34 games for Hereford United and it is understood that if he plays another game it will trigger a clause in his contract which could mean Turner having to offer him a similar contract for next season.
Turner is under pressure to make cuts in next years playing budget and, because of the wage Lunt is receiving, may feel he can not justify keeping the experienced midfielder at Edgar Street.
Lunt could ask for his contract to be paid up so he can leave for another club as soon as possible. In the circumstances Turner may agree to this to get him off the books.
It is believed that Hereford United agreed similar contracts with several other players. Keeper Adam Bartlett is one that has gone past the threshold. He is expected to be with the Bulls next season.
After the Lunt situation had been raised by Keith Hall in his BBC Hereford and Worcester interview with manager John Trewick after the match on Saturday, it was noticable that no mention was made about Lunt not playing on the Official Site interview.
There is a view that the club are unhappy with the Lunt situation being made public. However when a perfectly fit player is sat in the stands and a player who has hardly had time to recover from an injury takes his place, questions are bound to be asked.
