Gillingham have confirmed that the Bulls did make a move for one of their defenders.
Garry Richards, a 6ft 3in central defender, was the subject of an enquiry by John Trewick but an eye injury prevented a deal going through. The 23 year old was a regular as the Gills won promotion last season, including playing at Wembley, but has managed just a handful of appearances this term.
Barnet are also said to have inquired about the player, and a loan deal may be resurrected when the window reopens in seven days.
