The Bulls entertain Aldershot on Tuesday night in the first of three home games in eight days.
The game was originally scheduled to be the last of 2009, but succumbed to the frozen weather. The Bulls prefer to play the Shots in warmer times, especially during the Conference days. A sunny August monday saw the Bulls come back from two down in ten minutes to lead 3-2 after an hour and clinch a 4-3 victory in the final minute with David Brown's overhead kick sending the bulk of the near-5,000 crowd home well entertained and happy. The game also saw Shots man Fiston Manuella moon the Meadow End. Overall, the reformed Aldershot have not beaten the Bulls in ten attempts and the pair drew twice earlier this season 2-2 - once at the Rec with the Shots scoring twice in the last five minutes, and once at Edgar Street in the JPT with the Bulls winning on penalties.
With the home form showing just two losses all season, the Bulls should expect to get points from all three of the coming games despite the loftier positions of the opposition. Saturday's reverse to Shrewsbury highlighted frailties in defending set pieces, with the general lack of experience at the back one of the likely causes of the problem. With Ryan Valentine back in contention and both Richard Rose and Ryan Green nearing fitness the lack of experience can solve itself despite John Trewick's continued shortcomings in the loan market.
Like the Bulls, the Shots are far better at home than away. On the road the 8th placed side have the 15th best record, while their home form is 3rd best. Their last two games show something of a jeckyll and hyde side - winning 3-0 at form side Northampton just a few days after losing 3-0 to freefalling Barnet. In that Cobblers game hotshot Marvin Morgan scored his first goals since December 1st after being the subject of January transfer rumours.
