Forward Hereford United defender Tony James has told the Derby Telegraph why he decided to stay with the Brewers after receiving the chance to return to the Bulls.
"It just wasn't something I could discard lightly," said James.
"I was weighing the convenience of playing for a club close to home against playing for a club where I'm really enjoying my football.
"I'm playing well, enjoying being with these lads and at the club and we're having a good season.
"Hereford are struggling a bit but Burton are moving forward and I want to be a part of that.
"The gaffer (Paul Peschisolido) gave us a few days off, so I'm at home and I've not been in to sort it out yet," said James.
"But it's all agreed and I'm pleased with the deal. I had actually enquired about an extension before Christmas, long before there were any rumours about a move.
"I was trying to take the initiative, really, because I didn't want things to drag on until the end of the season. But the gaffer was pleased to talk to me about a new deal.
"It's been a tense weekend and my head's been here, there and everywhere, so I'm very pleased that it's all been sorted out now."
