Gavin Williams is looking forward to Tuesday's FA Cup replay at Cardiff City's new stadium. The former Hereford United midfielder scored Bristol City's goal in injury time last week that ensure the teams had to meet for a second time in the third round.
"I played in our league match at Cardiff City when the Bluebirds won 3-0 and it’s a fantastic new stadium," Williams told WalesOnline.
"Personally, I loved the atmosphere at Ninian Park. That was the stadium where I watched Cardiff City as a lad.
"Many of my family and friends are Bluebirds’ fans and I had a few text messages after the cup tie at Ashton Gate. But I’m a Bristol City player now and my job is to help my team beat Cardiff City. It felt good to score that late equaliser and I’ll be doing all I can to help them win."
Whether Williams will be in the starting eleven remains to be seen as he has only started in three games this season.
"It was an important goal for the team and an important goal for me because it’s been a frustrating time personally," said the former Hereford United, Yeovil, West Ham and Ipswich player.
"I’ve not had that run of games all year and it’s been tough for me to try on kick on."
Williams signed for Hereford United in July 1997 and went on to make 170 Conference appearances for the Bulls before being sold to Yeovil in May 2002.
