Accrington Get New Tax Demand

Accrington have been given eight weeks to come up with £308,000 in unpaid taxes.

A Winding Up hearing in the Companies Court this morning gave the club the eight weeks to find the full amount outstanding after apparently falling behind in their repayment plan. They had originally agreed to repay a £300,000 debt in £25,000 chunks over 12 months, but needed interest free loans from supporters to meet the first two payments.

Chief Executive Rob Heys has told the Lancashire Telegraph that the club would now launch another fundraising campaign. A fans initiative, led by shareholder Ilyas Khan, had previously received pledges of over £300,000 but the offer of taking a large stake in the club in exchange for the money was rejected.
