The Return of Superman

Not all players who leave Hereford United and then return with another team get a warm welcome. But this evening Wayne 'Superman' Brown will be back at Edgar Street and is certain to get a cheer or two as he takes to the field.

Brown left Hereford United just over a year ago and moved to Bury. All sorts of reasons were given for his move. It was reported he wanted to be closer to his daughter. It was also said that the fact Bury had offered him a two year deal as opposed to a one year offer from Graham Turner. Other reports suggested it was partly about money.

Whatever the reasons, Brown moved to Bury and tonight he's back.

Last week he spoke to the Hereford Times:

"It will be nice to come back,” said Brown.

"I have been back to Hereford to look at a wine bar and I came down for the Oldham game last season which Hereford won 5-0.

"I have my fingers crossed that I will have a good reception from the Hereford fans.

"I am used to getting booed by the Bury fans. They booed us for the first 10 minutes on (the previous) Saturday. To be honest, we didn’t play very well."

Last Saturday Brown was on the winning side but was yellow carded for a challenge on a Darlington player. He redeemed himself by saving the penalty.

Brown gave the impression he might like to return to Hereford.

"My girlfriend lives in Worcester and my daughter now lives in Shrewsbury, so being in Hereford would be ideal.

"I know last year was a bit of a disaster for Hereford but perhaps they might have stayed up had I been playing for them?”

"I had an excellent time with Hereford and, although the team has changed a lot, I still know the likes of Richard Rose, Ryan Green, Sam Gwynne and Craig Jones."

Also expected to make a return to Edgar Street this evening is Simon Johnson. He may start on the bench.
