The Bulls entertain Charlton on Tuesday night in their first home match of the new season.
The Bulls have not beaten the Addicks in eight attempts since they were first paired together in the old Division 3 back in 1973. It is 20 years since the two sides last met, in the League Cup, when the then top flight side won the first leg at Selhurst Park 3-1 before also winning the second leg 1-0.
The Bulls were happy to leave Christie Park with a point on Saturday, and will look to put in a better all round performance. The improvement in the performance that came about after the substitutions may see Matt Done replace youngster Jonny Godsmark on the left from the start, after Done set up Marc Pugh's late equaliser, while Glen Southam, with a limited pre-season behind him, may also be rested in favour of Jamie Tolley. The long awaited third striker is also hoped to arrive soon to support Lee Morris and Leon Constantine.
The Addicks continuing off-field problems see them struggle under £40million of debt, but they still have a very capable squad for a League One side despite making few additions during an uncertain summer. Captain Nick Bailey, a former Barnet man, scored 13 times from midfield last season while Jonjo Shelvey is rated in the £8million bracket by the club. Ex-Bulls Darren Randolph and Stuart Fleetwood may feature if boss Phil Parkinson chooses to shuffle the pack. Randolph was an unused sub on Saturday, while Fleetwood was omitted from the 18 man squad with Exeter still retaining interest in signing him.
Hereford United vs Charlton Athletic, Edgar Street, Tuesday 11th August, 7.45pm.
