The Bulls get their third home game in a week with the visit of Bury on Tuesday night.
Since returning to the Football League the Bulls are unbeaten against the Shakers, winning two and drawing two of their four matches. They have kept three clean sheets in those games, including both the games in the 2007/8 promotion season with Theo Robinson's last minute strike in the trip to Gigg Lane the only goal between the sides that season.
The Bulls will be looking for another Tuesday night performance after two disappointing Saturday turnouts. With a striker still on the wish list of the Edgar Street faithful, a quick return for Marc Pugh is also hoped for to increase the options open to John Trewick. His absence on Saturday left the rookie boss with no attacking substitutes when one seemed to be needed to shuffle the pack. Glen Southam's sub appearance offered glimpses of his ability after an injury-hit pre-season to give Trewick another change to think about.
The Shakers' arrival at Edgar Street will see Wayne Brown make a first playing return to Edgar Street after his departure last summer. He has played at Edgar Street as a visitor before, losing twice as a Chester player defeats that saw his side fail to score. Simon Johnson will also make a return to Edgar Street after his summer release, and is likely to be on the bench again after two League games so far saw him on the pitch for a total of 11 minutes. Injuries to strikers Andy Bishop and Danny Carlton will likely see neither make an appearance, while veteran Andy Morrell has managed just one sub appearance, leaving ex-Chester man Ryan Lowe to partner loanee Jordan Robertson up front.
