The new BBC Football League highlights show got several facts incorrect last night and one of them indirectly involved Hereford United.
Whilst talking about Cardiff City the reporter stated that the 22,000 crowd at their new stadium was their best since 1971.
Incorrect it appears, as on April 14th 1976 Cardiff had a gate of 35,549 for a League Division Three game.
And why did they have such a high gate?
Because the visitors were Hereford United.
Cardiff won the game 2-0. But at the end of the season Hereford came top of the League with Cardiff City some six points behind in second position. Both were promoted along with Millwall.
