For a couple of years it has been noticable that the use of the Sun Valley name by Cargill has been getting less and less.
Now it appears that it will be no more, certainly as regards Hereford United.
Cargill Meats Europe is the parent of Sun Valley and it looks as though that name, or something similar, will appear on both the home and away shirts next season.
Like most changes some take longer to get used to than others.
Many of us still refer to the Len Weston Stand at Edgar Street not as it is now known the Cargill Stand. Len Weston is part of the clubs history as is the Sun Valley logo.
After all both Len Weston and Sun Valley are well known as 'Herefordshire' names. Just as Bulmers Cider, M&M, or more recently Tyrrell's Crisps.
But Cargill Meats Europe just doesn't sound right and will take some getting used to if it is decided to use this name.
And what about the youngsters who are part of the Sun Valley Strikers, they might become the Cargill Meats Europe strikers. Not quite the same.
Meanwhile with both a new home and a new away shirt going on sale at the start of next season, which has not happened for a long time, the expense of purchasing both shirts might well be too much for many supporters. Perhaps a special offer of buy one get the other at half price could help sales?
