News Round Up

Stockport have offered new contracts to eight of their young pros at the club, but several of the more experienced players will have to wait to hear about new deals with the finances of the club still in doubt. Jim Gannon told the press: "I have been placed in a very difficult position with regard to a number of senior players by the inability of the Board to find the financial stability in order to consider the future playing budget for the coming season."

Gillingham are the first side to announce price rises for next season, and the rises will be larger if they win promotion. Grimsby are offering reduced admission to Saturday's match with Accrington after finding a sponsor to cover the promotion. Accrington chairman Eric Whalley has said that any player found guilty over the betting probe charges announced yesterday will be sacked.

Salisbury have been put up for sale for £1 after a season of financial problems. The mid-table Conference side slashed wages and their playing staff to keep afloat on gates around 1,000. Carlisle will stick with manager Greg Abbott even if they are relegated, and have released midfielder Grant Smith despite a mounting injury list.

Chester have been granted permission to bring in a goalkeeper after their only senior stopper was ruled out for the season, while owner Stephen Vaughan has denied that the PFA is still covering wages at the club despite the PFA telling one fan site they are.
