In their final home game of the season Hereford United's youth team draw with Exeter City.
The second game in a week saw the young Bulls back at full strength with the return of Joel Edwards and Tyler Weir for the game against Exeter City. The Race meeting at the Racecourse meant a change of venue and Pegasus Juniors obliged providing their fine facilities to stage the game.
Both sides tried to play football although the dry pitch made this difficult at times. Initially neither side was able to create a chance of note. Once again Aidan Thomas looked lively up front and in the 20th minute he was brought down in the penalty area. Skipper Jamie Cuthbertson stepped up to take the spot kick and was mighty relieved to score at the second attempt after the visiting keeper had parried the first shot. Exeter then missed two great chances to equalise missing the target when well placed. Two excellent dead ball kicks by Jak Lewis failed to find an attacking head and with the half coming to a close the visitors found the net to level the scores.
The second half saw the home side very much on the offensive and brilliant anticipation by Tyler Weir saw him pick up the ball just outside the opponents penalty area, side stepping a challenge he steadied himself and shot the Bulls into a 2-1 lead. The lead only lasted for ten minutes when a break down the left resulted in Mike Evans brining down the visiting attacker in the penalty box. The sport kick levelled the scores and Exeter stepped up the pressure forcing Mat Gwynne into regular action. The final quarter of the game saw a fight break out in mid field with the outcome resulting excellent Weir being dismissed from the field of play. The Bulls worked hard to close the eleven men down and with the last free kick of the game skipper Cuthbertson saw his goal bound shot headed off the line. Final score 2-2 our first draw of the season.
