This morning Lord Scudamore Primary School met Leominster Junior School at Edgar Street in the final of the regional section of the League One Community Cup, with the winners going forward to play the represenatives of the other L1 sides at Crewe Alex on April 23rd.
The finalists were decided at a City tournament organized by Jamie Edwards (FITC officer) held at the Leisure centre last October. For Lord Scudamore it was third year in succession in the final where as winners they went on to represent Hereford United at Wycombe in 2007 where agonisingly they lost out to MK Dons in a golden goal extra time defeat.
Last season Scudamore were also the representatives and at Shrewsbury Town they were eliminated at the group stage by eventual winners MK Dons (having inflicted a defeat upon their Bucks rivals) in a tournament hosted by ex Bulls Community Officer Brian Williams.
Amazingly, Scudamore have again battled through to the final stages where they will face the representatives of other 'Northern' L1 sides such as Leeds United, Leicester City and Huddersfield town at Crewe Alex in April.
Well done to both schools in a very exciting game witnessed by some 200 spectators with the winning trophy presented by Josh Gowling. Should they prove third time lucky winners, Scudamore will progress to Wembley to meet the Southern area winners prior to the L1 Play-off Final in May.
