Harvey Defends Postponement

Leeds chief executive Shaun Harvey has applauded the Bulls for the quick postponement of yesterday's match.

Speaking to the Telegraph and Argus, Harvey said: “There was a farcical situation last season when our game at Doncaster was called off after nearly everybody had reached the town before realising there was a problem.

“We are disappointed that Saturday’s game was off and so are Hereford because they will lose an absolute fortune. The decision to call in the referee was not taken lightly by them or for any form of tactical advantage. We are fortunate in having undersoil heating at Elland Road and pitch covers at our Thorp Arch training ground.

“Maybe something can be done about pitch covers at grounds in the future but Hereford deserve complimenting for handling the situation in a professional manner. They rang us on Friday to say there was some doubt about the game, so everybody was prepared for it.”
