Derry to take over at Mansfield

As reported yesterday on Bulls News, the deal for James Derry to take over control at Mansfield is set to go ahead.

"We have thrashed out a workable deal. To all intents and purposes Keith Haslam has disappeared from this football club," Derry told the Mansfield Chad.

"This is a new dawn, a new era."

One of his first moves is designed to get the fans back to Field Mill. The game against Wrexham on April 1st will cost £10 to watch and for those who are at tomorrow's match against Grimsby just £5.

"I am hoping for a bumper gate now at the next two matches," said Derry.

"We obviously need to improve the income levels at the club. It is no secret that the club is losing £250,000 a year - the commercial activity at the club is down to ridiculous levels.

"We are making just £100,000 at the moment - Lincoln does £600,000. So we will improve this."

One issue Mr Derry might ponder at Field Mill is the stewarding. Many Hereford United supporters who went to the game between the two clubs ten days ago questioned the behaviour of some of the stewards.
