Wrexham are set to appoint Brian Little as their new manager on Thursday.
Chairman Neville Dickens has told the BBC that Little will be appointed, once the final discussions have taken place: "He is our number one choice, but nothing has been done yet of course.
"We're probably 36 hours away yet - there is a little bit of work to be done. Let's hope we can get the man we want. He has a vast amount of experience. He's been at the highest level, he's been down in the lower leagues as well and he's left his mark wherever he's been."
Former Chester boss Mark Wright has told the press he is interested in the job, but looks to have missed out to the former Leicester and Tranmere boss. Wright took a dig at former employers Chester, whom he left under a cloud, when describing Wrexham to The Chronicle: "It would be great to be involved in a bigger club. Wrexham are a very big club with a massive fan base. I'm not being big-headed, but my record in football is very, very good.
"At Chester last year come Christmas we were eighth with games in hand and then all of a sudden our better players were sold. It was understandable because it was a business decision, but I think I've done my time as far as having those sorts of things happen goes."
