Where are they now - Andy Brownrigg

This has got to be one of the strangest stories of all our ex-players. Andy joined the Bulls in 1994 as a YT player and by March '95 had made just eight appearances when John Deehan the Norwich City manager paid £100,000 for his services. In the summer of 1997 he was sold to Rotherham without having played a single first team game. The following year he joined Yeovil for a short while but was later reported to be playing for Stalybridge Celtic in the Conference although Team Talk magazine also has him at Tamworth! The June 1999 edition of Team Talk reports that Andy is playing for Stocksbridge Park Steels of the Northern League. Season 99/00 found Brownrigg at Skiddlington Farriers under the management of the phantom pie-eater Jan Molby. Harriers, despite the tactical genius of Molby, gained promotion to the Football League. However, once again, Andy failed to make an appearance in the League and was transferred to the sporran adorned Greenock Morton for £25,000. In March 2001 he returned to English football at Division 3 glamour club Hartlepool but was released just three months later without (yes, you've guessed it) making even one first team appearance. At this point it is worth noting that in nearly seven years Andy had made just eight Football League starts and they were all in his period with The Bulls.

The Following two years saw time at Northwich Victoria, Hednesford, Gainsborough Trinity and Wakefield & Emley. In 2003, he trialled with Worksop, had a game with Oxford Reserves and eventually joined Hallam. Andy then joined Buxton in 2005. In the close season of 2006, Brownrigg signed for Sheffield FC who claim to be the oldest football team in the world having been formed in 1857. Their website lists Andy as a current player: - "Strong central defender or midfielder who is extremely confident on the ball. Took a break from football last season, but looking fit and strong in pre season and ready to make an impact in season 2007/08." The Sheffield website is well worth a read http://www.sheffieldfc.com/index.htm

Andy Brownrigg is still only 31! Sign him up Turner ;-)
