Gannon Blasts Fans For Support

Stockport boss Jim Gannon has blasted their fans for a lack of support on Saturday during their defeat to the Bulls.

Speaking to the dedicated Manchester TV station Channel M Gannon started by denying he was 'having a go', but proceeded to take several shots at the supporters: "I don't think the atmosphere in the ground gives (the players) confidence.

"When I've got people behind me calling for people to come off, shouting their numbers and referring to our keeper as 'keeper' then you wonder what kind of fans they are when they don't even know our players' names.

"I don't think they understand the decisions we made in terms of the substitutions, that we had to rest players for Monday. I don't think there's enough backing, especially in the Main Stand."

Their FA Cup replay last night was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, and the Stockport board have already offered free travel to supporters for the rearranged game.
