News Round Up

Chester have made an approach to sign former Welsh international striker John Hartson on loan ahead of a permanent deal. The current West Brom player is struggling for games, after a disappointing loan spell at Norwich where he started just two of six games, but how Chester can afford such a player when they are so close to the wage capping rules is unclear.

Rochdale have signed 19 year old winger Jamie Mullan on a short term contract. The former Man Utd trainee, released in the summer, has been on trial at Spotland for the last few weeks. MK Dons have loaned John Hastings to Maidenhead. The 23 year old was plucked from non-league Tooting last summer, but has failed to make an impact.

Former York boss Billy McEwan has spoke of his disappointment at being sacked over the phone: "There has been a unanimous decision by the board. I've not seen them - I have spoken to them on the phone but nothing surprises you in football." Grays are set to groundshare with either Dagenham or Thurrock as they plan to redevelop their Bridge Road home.

Halifax are set to have a completed home after the Shay Stadium Trust and the local council unveiled plans to finally complete the development of the stadium. Planning permission will be sought before Xmas for conference rooms and a restaurant, with aims to complete the building by the end of 2008.
