Bassett ain't gone senile says Wise

Dennis Wise is wearing a name badge so his new assistant at Leeds Dave/Harry Bassett can remember who he is.

At his first press conference, after Leeds's Paint game defeat by Bury, Harry/Dave managed to get three of his own players' names wrong - and, according to the Telegraph and Angus, Wise was quick to play the name-tag joke on Bassett.

With the name Dennis stuck on his tracksuit top, Wise struggled to keep his face straight at a press conference of his own this afternoon.

"Obviously we have three new players I have heard about - Trevor Kandol, Darren Beckford and James Howson," said Wise.

"Unfortunately Harry' seems to get names mixed up, which is why we've all got name tags on for him. He called me the wrong name for the first three months after I went to Wimbledon all those years ago. So don't worry, he ain't gone senile or anything, but it was quite funny."

The paper goes on to say that Tresor Kandol, Jermaine Beckford and Jonny Howson went along with the joke by wearing name tags when they reported for training - and a caller to a local radio station joined in the name game, turning the tables on Bassett by calling him Mike Bassett.
