Hereford United's Steve Guinan received a red card this afternoon but there will be many Bulls supporters who thought that the referee, Mr Melin, should only have shown the striker a yellow.
The events leading up to his dismissal didn't help. Guinan had lost the ball, perhaps too easily, and then chased after Lloyd Dyer and brought him down. In essence it was a mis-timed challenge whilst the MK Dons player was heading towards goal.
The referee today was the same official who sent Tim Sills off last season.
John Trewick spoke to BBC Hereford and Worcester after the game.
"Was it an sending off - I don't know. It was a rash challenge fair enough, but he certainly wasn't going through on goal. I think the referee has got to have a look at that decision.
"We went out with ten men second-half. That changed the shape of the game by playing a certain way to try and take the point and possibly nick the three against the top of the league team.
"I just felt we had got to the stage where we had just about done it - you can never be complacent - but I just thought we had weathered an early storm at the very beginning of the half. Once we had settled into the way we played with the nine out-field men to lose a goal four minutes from the end was a bit of a kick in the teeth."
Meanwhile below is how the Guinan card was reported on the MK Dons website.
Well Paul Melin had sent six men off before today this season and now it's seven. Guinan dithers on the ball in midfield and is robbed by Andrews inside the centre-circle. He feeds Dyer who leads a Dons break but Guinan outrageously cuts him down in full flight. He wasn't the last man but it was unbelievably cynical and he gets a straight red card. He really didn't have to make the tackle but he looked frustrated at having lost possession.
No doubt the Virgin highlights will help many decide whether the referee was correct.
