Late last week the Western Daily Press reported that Bristol Rovers were considering another bid for Hereford United striker Andy Williams.
The article said that Williams, who is out of contract, may now be more interested in a move to Rovers and League One football than he was last January when Hereford were above Rovers in the League Two table.
Rovers reportedly bid £100,000 for Williams last summer and upped their offer to £150,000 last January. That offer was accepted by Graham Turner but Williams did not want to move at the time. The following evening he delighted supporters by scoring the Hereford goal of the season with a 25 yard screamer at Bury after coming off the bench. It appeared to signal how was proud to be a Hereford United player.
"I couldn't tell you what the gaffer and that are thinking of but as far as I'm concerned at the moment I'm a Hereford player and that's all I want to be," Williams told BBC Hereford and Worcester after the game.
Yesterday Graham Turner was reported to have made an increased offer to Williams.
"I've seen Andy Williams and increased the offer to him, so I'm not sure what his line of thought is at the moment," said Turner as reported by the Worcester News.
Which begs the question has Turner had a change of heart over Williams?
If Williams was deemed a saleable commodity in January, is an increased offer to him a sign that Turner now wants to keep him? Or is it a ploy to keep the price up?
Meanwhile Bristol Rovers supporters have been asked in a poll 'Who would you most like to see in the famous blue & white quarters next season?'
Whilst former striker Stuart Nicholson came top with 41%, Andy Williams received just 1%.
