Tamika Mkandawire is moving to Leyton Orient from Hereford United according to the Ilford Recorder.
Update 5pm: Now confirmed by Leyton Orient.
Manager Martin Ling says he has been tracing Mkandawire (pictured) for some time. He had a bid of £60,000 turned down by Hereford last summer.
"To get him on a free transfer is a coup. He's another player who will offer an improvement on what we've had before."
Mkandawire has signed a three year contract.
He first played for Hereford United whilst on loan from West Bromwich Albion in October 2003 and then joined the Bulls on a free transfer the following summer.
Graham Turner offered Mkandawire a new contract but the centre back has decided to move on.
