Wright Slams Support

If the gulf between Chester fans and Mark Wright wasn't large enough as it was, Wright spent his post-match interviews after Sunday's bore draw with Shrewsbury slamming the few supporters that turned up.

Under 1,500 Chester fans managed to turn up for the game, more than 700 fewer than the same fixture that concluded the season before, and were outnumbered by their Shropshire visitors.

Wright, who has been an increasingly vilified figure on the Chester message boards, chose to aim the frustration at his side's inept performance at the fans, telling the local press: "I'm disappointed with the mindset of a few people here. There are people trying trying to cause trouble and unrest."

Wright admitted to reading the message boards, which led respondents to suggest a series of likely 'usernames' for the former Derby and Liverpool man. Few were repeatable.

The former England international spent the game skulking in the dugout, leaving assistant Graham Barrow to instruct the side. Wright, who was forced to offload a number of summer signings to balance the books before the season was a month old, is set to enter talks with chairman Stephen Vaughan in the week to discuss next season.
