No it's not the FA Cup final, nor the Johnstones Paint Trophy final, but the final of the Herefordshire Football Association Senior Floodlit Cup which takes place this evening.
The two teams taking part are Hereford United and Ledbury Town, two of the top Herefordshire clubs. They reached the final after, between them, knocking out severalother local clubs. All clubs were invited to take part.
Ledbury Town ply their trade in the West Midlands League. This season they have spent most of the time in the lower reaches of that league.
However eight days ago, on Easter Monday, they won the HFA County Challenge Cup after defeating Wellington. It was the first time for over twenty years that Ledbury had won this trophy.
The final of this cup took place at Edgar Street so Ledbury will know how poor the pitch is at present and should be able to adapt to the conditions this evening.
Meanwhile Hereford United are expected to rest several first-team players this evening and give some squad members a game.
Amidst others Marcus Palmer, Sam Gwynne, Jordan Fitzpatrick and keeper Glyn Thompson are likely to start.
Hereford defeated Westfields to reach the final but only after extra time when Palmer scored a hat-trick. Ledbury won their semi-final tie against Hinton.
The cup-tie kicks off at 7.45 and admission is £6 for adults and £3 for concessions. Only the mainstand will be open for the game.
