The Bulls entertain Grimsby looking for a more robust performance than the one that saw the Mariners win in front of Sky's cameras back in October.
That day makeshift striker Gary Jones bagged a goal either side of a Rob Purdie penalty as the Bulls struggled to adjust to life in the Football League. Previous meetings between the sides have seen the Bulls have the edge, leading by six wins to four with three draws, but the two sides have never shared a draw at Edgar Street.
The Bulls loss at Hartlepool last weekend was their first defeat in five, and Pools boss Danny Wilson was quick to praise the hard working visitors. For the first time in a long time manager Graham Turner has real competition for places as he looks to cement the Bulls in League Two, keeping one eye on the play-off spots. The play-offs may be a step too far this season but, with many of the squad having more than one Conference play-off campaigns behind them, the squad will not be phased by the end of season competiton though this will be one game that the club will be looking to win if they have aspirations for a top 7 spot.
Grimsby's resurgence away from the relegation mire in recent weeks has been down more to their home form than results on their travels and they will find a stingy Bulls defence hard to beat after failing to score in two thirds of their away matches. They have won two of their last three away matches, notably beating near rivals Boston 6-0 which contributed a third of their goals on the road this season, but they were also thumped 4-1 by the equally awful Torquay.
Hereford United vs Grimsby Town, Edgar Street, Saturday March 10th, 3.00pm.
