News Round Up

The rumblings at Torquay go on. 'New' chairman Mike Bateson has denied ousting 10 day chairman Keith Richardson because Bateson retained majority shareholding. Richardson told the press that his position was untenable as Bateson wanted total control, but Bateson denied even meeting with Richardson saying: "They needed someone with experience and a willingness to stump up some immediate cash. I fitted the bill and I'm pleased to do whatever I can to help but it's only for this season". Previous ex-chairman Chris Roberts accused Bateson of draining the club accounts of £400,000 shortly before he left first time round in October. Bateson has also confirmed that Roberts still holds 34% of the shares.

Darlington have signed Hull full back Scott Wiseman on loan for the rest of the season. Wiseman has recently completed a 21 game loan spell at Rotherham. Lincoln have signed Aston Villa keeper Robert Olejnik until the end of the season. The Austrian stopper is an under 21 international who is yet to play for the Villa first team.

The Conference are hopeful that they will benefit from the delays at the new Wembley. The play-off final is now being touted as one of the 'warm-up events' to test the venue with a smaller crowd prior to the FA Cup final. Peterboro have named Andy Dibble as their first full time goalkeeping coach. The veteran keeper played with manager Darren Ferguson at Wrexham and had recently been at Coventry in a similar role.
