Harvey to be offered longer deal at Forest Green

Former Hereford United player Jimmy Harvey, now looking after Forest Green Rovers, is said to be wanted by Aldershot Town to take over from Terry Brown.

However any approach will be unwelcome according to Colin Gardner, the Forest Green chairman.

Harvey is expected to be offered a 'a five-year extension to his contract this summer.' His current deal run out in summer 2008.

"Once we get this season over with, I'm planning to sit down with Jim and effectively tie him to Rovers for another six years, " Gardner told the Gloucester press.

"That's a measure of how much the board of directors and myself rate him as a manager and as a man.

"He was at Morecambe for 12 years before joining us, and that's because he looked after the whole club - right from the youth team upwards.

"He's doing exactly the same here and, without being disrespectful to anyone before him, I believe he's producing a better standard of football than we've ever had here.

"Jim's working at a brand new stadium and he knows he has a board of directors who will back his plans to strengthen the team, so why would he want to go anywhere?"

Harvey spent eight seasons at Edgar Street.
