Friday night if Cup game is at Rovers

Bristol Rovers have said that if they play Hereford United in the Third Round of the FA Cup then the game is likely to be played on Friday January 5th.

Rovers will play Hereford United at the Memorial Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup - if they can overturn AFC Bournemouth in their round two replay.

And if Rovers should emerge triumphant at the Fitness First Stadium in nine days' time, the round three game would almost certainly be scheduled for Friday 5th January.

Local rivals Bristol City were handed a home tie against Coventry City, and will immediately opt for the Saturday afternoon date.

And with the two Bristol clubs not allowed to play at home on the same day for policing reasons, and Bristol Rugby at home to Northampton Saints in the Guinness Premiership on the Sunday afternoon, it leaves Friday evening as the only realistic match slot.

Provisional discussions between officials from Rovers, Bournemouth and Hereford United will take place this week.
