Atkins Quits Torquay

The inevitable has happened and Ian Atkins has quit Torquay, a week after he was replaced as manager by Lubos Kubik.

Atkins was offered a Director of Football role within the club but, after a week of consideration, he has decided to leave for pastures new with rumours circulating that he will be the next manager at Brentford.

Meanwhile, Torquay have announced a £11,000 profit for the last financial year after recording a £40,000 loss the previous year. Turnover was nearly £1.5million.

In other news, Boston have been refused planning permission for a new stadium that is hoped would clear their debts. Former Chief Executive Jon Sotnick, who is still believed to be involved in development company Lavaflow, told the Lincolnshire Echo:
"When I learned of the news, I was quite dismayed. I said at the time of launching these relocation plans - which is more than two years ago now - a move would be essential to the club's future. If the council decides to turn them down, the outlook for Boston United will be very bleak indeed. "I would fear very much for the stability of the club because, without incremental income from hospitality, Boston are losing a lot of money. I still stand by my belief that the football club will cease to exist if a new ground move is not granted."
