Widest margin in FA Cup proper since 1958

The 4-0 victory over Port Vale was the widest margin for Hereford United in an FA Cup game, other than a qualifying round, for many seasons.

The Bulls did put six past Harrow in October 2003 in a fourth qualifying round, but there hasn't been a victory like today's since long before Graham Turner took over as manager at Edgar Street.

Hereford scored four against Scunthrope in a third round replay in 1982 but failed to keep a clean sheet on that occasion.

One has to go back to 1958 when in a Round Two match the result was Hereford United 6 Queens Park Rangers 1.

Meanwhile Hereford united will collect £24,000 in prize money for their efforts this afternoon.
