Torquay Takeover Completed

Torquay United have today confirmed Chris Roberts as the new Chairman and owner, with Mike Bateson stepping down after 17 years.

Ten days ago Bateson told their official site that a deal was '48 hours' away, and was quick to apologise to fans for the delay in the deal: "I'm sorry that the last few days have dragged on somewhat but it is vitally important that all eventualities were covered in the agreement. All's well that ends well and the move heralds the beginning of a new era for the club and for the supporters."

37 year old Roberts is a former footballer turned businessman, having acted as a football agent since injury ended his playing career.
