With the February meeting cancelled, the Liaison Committee met last night for the first time since early January.
Comprising representatives of the Board of Directors, HUISA, and the VP Club, Graham Turner told the meeting that they had a meeting in Birmingham with the Richardsons and other parties and that "significant progress" had been made in that meeting. However, an official statement on what progress had been made would not be released until the formalities had been completed.
The Football League inspection team had submitted a seven page report to the club, and Turner was surprised at some of the things listed for improvement. He had not spoken to other clubs over their reports but expected most clubs to have similar lists of improvements.
Responding to questions, Turner confirmed that Stacy Coldicott had joined in training on Monday and was expected to be match fit, but that both Dean Beckwith and Rob Purdie were major doubts for the trip to Southport. There is no possibility of Daryl Taylor remaining until the end of the season as his loan will have been for the maximum allowable 93 days, adding that if any players were to join before the transfer deadline they would have to improve on the current squad. Turner was hoping to arrange a friendly match with Cardiff soon to help get some of the injured players match fit.
It was also noted that contract negotiations with other players are likely to start soon following Andy Williams decision to sign.
On Saturday's match Turner was extremely pleased with the gate and acknowledged supporters problems with long queues, noting that a large amount of people turned up in the last half hour prior to kick off. Turner was not aware that any of the Accrington bench had been sent off, and was not aware of the contents of the referees report.
