Clough tells players to keep it going

Burton Albion defeated Stevenage last weekend and were reported to have played well against Accrington Stanley three weeks ago so they hope to keep up their recent good run of results against Hereford United tomorrow.

"We have to do something which sounds easy but actually isn't," Nigel Clough, manager of Burton Albion, told this is Staffordshire.

"It sounds an obvious thing to ask the players to keep it going but to maintain that level of performance is not straightforward.

"We've played well so far against the top sides and this will be another one to measure ourselves against."

Clough thinks that although Burton have a good record against Hereford, the Bulls may not be too nervous about their promotion hopes at present.

"I think the situation's a bit different this time," he said.

"Hereford can't realistically expect to catch Accrington for the title but they know they'll get into the play-offs.

"If there's one team up there who know what's going to happen to them, it's Hereford, so I think they'll be pretty relaxed."

Burton have a strong squad of fit players at present with several former regulars finding it difficult to command a starting place.

"It means that, if somebody has a dip, we do have quality to bring in - as we did when Keith came on for Andy Ducros in the second half last week.

"We've never had that luxury in the squad before but we still can't afford several players having a dip at once. One or two, we might cope with, but if three or four are off it, we won't be able to keep our run going."

Meanwhile it is reported that Amy Rayner is the referee tomorrow.
