Graham Turner said last week that he was hoping to take a scholar on work experience for the rest of the season.
The player was to come from a League One side but as at Friday afternoon, according to BBC Hereford and Worcester, the deal had yet to be completed.
It was later reported that the youngster was on the bench at his club for their game last Friday evening. The four League One teams playing that evening were Swansea, Bournemouth, Tranmere and Huddersfield.
"We have in fact made arrangements that we are going to take a mid-field player from a First Division club on work experience. He's played in what is a very successful First Division side at the moment. He's played in their first team. So he's had that little bit of taste of first team football," said Turner last Thursday.
"And that should all go through with us having the opportunity to play him as and when we want him."
One player that might fit the description is Shaun Macdonald of Swansea City. He is a young midfielder who was on the Swansea bench last Friday evening. The Swans have several first team players injuried at present and MacDonald was drafted in.
In a report of last Friday's game on the the Jackarmy site, it said that the 'impressive looking Shaun MacDonald' came on as a sub during the second half.
MacDonald is a second year scholar at Swansea. He made his debut for the club against Caernarfon. He has also played for the Wales under-21 side.
Born in Swansea, ginger haired MacDonald is over 6 feet and will be 18 in June.
Below is his (slightly edited) profile from the Jackarmy website:
Youngster MacDonald was also given a first team quad number by Jackett in the summer. Shaun has made his way through the youth and reserves; MacDonald is primarily a central midfielder but can play in defence or even up front.
The 17 year old is a Welsh U19 and he has a lot of potential, Shaun will be hoping to feature some first team action this season, he is still only young and will most likely only come in if The Swans have a lot of injuries and suspensions.
MacDonald is expected to play for Swansea against Carmarthen in the FAW Premier Cup game next Wednesday as the Swans midfield trio Owain Tudur Jones, Kris O'Leary and Darren Way are already on the sicklist.
The game is to televised by BBC Wales. It is thought he may be able to join the Hereford squad after this game.
Although the Bulls have not yet revealed who their target youngster is, should it be MacDonald and he is able to come to Edgar Street, it looks as though Graham Turner will have found another talented youngster to bolster the squad.
