Fry worried about Forums

Yeovil Town chairman, John Fry, has told the Western Daily Press, that the club may try to close down 'libellous' internet supporters' forums.

Fry is said to be worried that some Glovers fans have been highly critical of the club since former manager David Webb returned as majority shareholder and chief executive at the end of last year.

"Freedom of speech is a great thing but the comments that are made on websites are sometimes libellous and damaging, " said Fry. "Some of it can destroy the fabric of football clubs.

"Most of the content on these websites is positive, but many people are getting tired of the negativity that seems to come from these faceless people.

"It's damaging the character of people who are trying to do their best for football clubs.

"And it can drive good people away from trying to help football clubs."

Fry said yesterday that the club was dealing with 'a problem' related to the on-line forums.

Asked if legal action was being considered, he said: "There are codes of practice and we may have the power to close some of these websites down."
