Boston Chairman Jon Sotnick has accused the Police of a conspiracy against manager Steve Evans after the controversial Evans was ejected from Grimsby's Blundell Park at the weekend.
Evans, currently awaiting trial on tax evasion charges, was forcibly removed from the ground by Police after complaining about a referee's decision to not send off the Grimsby keeper for handling outside the area.
Chairman Sotnick told the press: "There seems to be a conspiracy at work. At every game Steve seems to be singled out for extra attention from the police - and I'm determined to get the bottom of this.
"This was a disgrace and I've launched my own investigation to find out why the police ejected an employee of mine from his place of work. It's one thing being sent to the stands but this went way beyond that and I want answers. Steve is no angel, and his language can be rather colourful at times, but that in no way excuses how he was treated."
"Steve was thrown out of the ground with no money, no mobile phone and was left to fend for himself."
Evans himself denied reports that he listened to the remainder of the game from the team coach, saying that he was left to 'walk the streets', telling the offical Boston website: "The reports I have read are factually wrong and I will have my say at the appropriate time. What actions were taken jeopardised my safety and were disgraceful and I will not let this go. It is myself who has asked for a full investigation into what happened both on the day and the days leading up to the match. I have the total support of the LMA and my board of directors, who like me are disgusted, but as I have said, I will have my full say shortly."
