Interviewed for the Non-League Paper, Graham Turner admitted that it wasn't Hereford United's best performance yesterday against Scarborough.
"When it doesn't flow you have to dig in and defend," said Turner.
"Scarborough made it difficult for us and the pitch made it doubly difficult. They got a lot of the ball forward early and we had to show a lot of resilience.
"Scarborough are scrapping for their lives and have just had Denny Ingram arrive who is a decent defender. That gave them a bit of a boost. We knew it wouldn't be easy and on a lively pitch, when you are trying to get the ball down and pass it, life is not easy.
"We didn't play well - we had to work and scrap. Sometimes that is what you have to do - it's great when it flows, but when it doesn't you have to do what we did today.
Adam Stansfield also commented on the game to the paper.
"It was three very valuable points for us. Scarborough are very hard to play against, they lump it forward and have some good forwards who hold it up well.
"But we got the early goal and held on. They tried to pump it long but our boys at the back did very well."
