Cambridge Merger Draws Near

The merger of the two Cambridge clubs, United and City, has drawn nearer with City admitting that a union of the pair could be the best solution to their cash problems.

Chairman Arthur Eastham told the NLP that debts were mounting and the likely conclusion to the situation if a merger was not finalised was that the Conference South side would fold it's senior side and operate the in the existing reserves Ridgeons (East Counties) League with the Academy side.

City fans have remained fiercely loyal to the cause since the two sides battled regularly in the Southern League and the loyal, if small, band are set against a merger but they will get a chance to voice their feelings on Wednesday when the club hold a Fans Forum to give supporters details on their financial situation and ask fans for their opinions on the options available.
