Woking looking forward to playing Hereford

Woking manager Glenn Cockerill has been talking to the Woking News and Mail about Hereford United in advance of Saturday's meeting between the two clubs at Edgar Street.

He noted that the Bulls beat Cambridge City away in the FA Cup last weekend but have struggled to score goals having notched just 17 in 15 league matches. They do have the meanest defensive record in the Conference though, conceding just 11.

"We're looking forward to Hereford and playing these big games is what it's all about," said Cockerill.

"They have had an indifferent start by their standards but I don't think that's anything to do with how they're doing.

"I think it's that other teams around them have become better and stronger and are capable of taking points off each other. So it's not a reflection on Hereford, more a reflection on the other teams."

The paper notes that Cockerill has been boosted by the news that Yeovil have agreed to extend Luke Oliver's loan deal by another month.

It is no coincidence that Woking's improvement from the start of the season came about when he and Stuart Nethercott were installed as centre backs and Cockerill is delighted to keep him.

"I've just kept badgering away at Yeovil and it's working so far. Luke is happy to stay and as long as I can keep him I'm delighted as it's very settled back there and long may that continue.

"It's disappointing for the likes of poor old Jim (Aggrey) who hasn't quite got back to how he was at the start of the season when he came to us.

"His injuries haven't helped him but I would be happy to put him in there if Luke ever got called back.

"Jim's the oldest out of the ones that aren't in the team and he thinks he should be in and I can understand him being frustrated about it."
